SANSKRITI MAHOTSAV

Nupur Zankar Academy of Performing Arts and Research Centre organises "SANSKRITI MAHOTSAV " since many years .

It is towards the objective of keeping the Indian Art & Culture alive and its proliferation - especially amongst the masses that has spurred Smt. Shila Mehta – Artistic Director of the academy to conceive the Mahotsav few years back.

The “SANSKRITI MAHOTSAV” is organised with the objective of creating an opportunity especially for the future generation and for the masses to get better exposure and understanding of our rich cultural heritage. It also aims to nurture and further develop the interest of the students and give them a platform to interact with the senior artists and Gurus and learn from them directly.

The "SANSKRITI MAHOTSAV" comprises:

1. An intensive workshop by renowned Gurus

2. Performances by eminent and renowned artists

3. Performances by students of the Academy

SANSKRITI MAHOTSAV 2007

* On July 7, 2007 Anuradha Naimpally, Dancer/Choreographer And Artistic Director Of Austin Dance India At Austin, TX, USA, Conducted A Workshop And Presented Lecture-Demonstration Entitled INNOVATION ON TRADITION at The Nupur Zankar Centre.

Naimpally, A Classically Trained Bharata Natyam Dancer in The Tanjavur Style, has Choreographed many Contemporary Pieces that Include Movements, Music, And Ideas From Other Genres.

* On May 27, 2007 a visit to the institute & Talk On Kathak Dance By PT. BIRJU MAHARAJJI & SASHWATI SEN.

* On July 21 & 22, 2007 Pt.Chitresh Das “ From Calcutta To California” & His Senior Disciple Charlotte Moraga presented
A Unique Kathak Dance Workshop & Lecture -Demonstration At Nupur Zankar Centre .

* On December 30,2007 a Workshop by Dr. Vikash Kashalkar - 3pm to 5pm followed by
“JALSA”- A programme of evening ragas

“BANDISH”- A programme of Tabla by Pt. Suresh Talwalkar (PUNE) & Kathak Dance by Shila Mehta at 6.30pm

* On December 14 2008, at NUPUR ZANKAR CENTRE at 6pm
“JALSA”- An evening of devotional songs by Smt.Padma Talwalkar (PUNE)-VOCAL
and Kathak Dance by a Student of Institute - Visha Pandya
