DETAILS OF PRODUCTIONS OF SMT. SHILA MEHTA


EXPRESSIONS:

The choreography incorporates various expressions - expressions of Eternity, Elation, Emotions and ecstasy.

The production starts with a Pada of Surdas depicting the philosophy of life cycle. It brings out the musical silence hidden in hte nature - paying homage to the trinity - Brahma - Vishnu - Mahesh. It gradually unfolds into the expression of Elation in the form of various intricate mathematical patterns woven across the tapestry of 14 and 16 beats. It follows with the expression of emotions - through a popular incident from the life of Lord Krishna taken from Geet Govind - the great literary work of Jaydev. The choreographic work ends with the juxtaposition of classical and folk dances highlighting the vibrant colours of Hori played by Lord Krishna and Radha with narration of a verse by Bhakti Poet Padmakar.

ANUBHOOTI:

Various verses depicting feelings - leading to the Utpatti of Rasas of various moods. The choreographic work describes the feelings in the abstract language of the Tala system that seems parallel to the utterance of Holy chants. Through Bhakti - Aalap, Tala and Laya - the eternal time is expressed.

The experience of Taal and Laya, which are not man made exist in nature and lead us closer to our soul's true nature.

"Ardhnareshwar Awtar" personifies the understanding of two-fold personality within. 'He' - The Lord Shiva - the Creator of the Universe and 'She' - The Shakti - the sustaining Energy.

The choreography takes us to Shringar Ras - the king of Navraas, the source of life - with various shades. It leads one to happiness - a much-sacred vision of life experienced through abstract syllables - mnemonics of Tabla and Pakhawaj.

An entreaty by Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj to Lord Krishna who is a friend, philosopher and a guide of all devotees with perplexed mind to soothe their mind in order to experience a divine bliss. Lord Krishna as always Playing mischief, like a naughty child plays Hori with the Gopies scattering different colours in their life and thus liberates them from the miseries of mankind.

ABHISAAR

A dance ballet in Kathak Dance idiom with the shade of Folk dances of Gujarat based on the original story written by Sri Rabindranath Tagore, translated by Sri Zaverchand Meghani of Gujrat.

"THE MOODS SPECTRUM"

We all go through different experiences every moment creating different moods in our life. “The Moods Spectrum” will unfold some ecstatic moments which in turn will create different moods.

"TATVA GYAN" - (PHILOSOPHY) DRAWN FROM "CHAARAN SAHITYA" - FOLK LITERATURE OF GUJARAT:

It is a presentation of DOHAS by the legendry poet of Gujarat Late Shri Dula Kaag with beautiful blending of folk & classical music. The presentation is in Kathak Dance Idiom.

A Woman in vidid form - depicting various Rasas - 3 NAYIKAS

MUKTI

A presentation of Liberation through 3 margams - Bhakti Marg, Karma Marg & experiencing ecstasy through Krishna's Rhythm.

An exploration of various Ragas depicting various seasons round the year.
